I thought he would start out at Memphis since he cooled off. But I anticipate the impact he can make.

Second baseman Andrés Giménez and the Cleveland Guardians are finalizing a long-term contract extension, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN. Giménez, 24, was a first-time All-Star and Gold Glove winner last year and put up 7.4 Wins Above Replacement -- a star-level season.

Outfielder Franchy Cordero and the New York Yankees are in agreement on a major league contract, sources tell ESPN. It’s a split deal that will pay $1 million in the big leagues and $180,000 in the minors. Barring another move, Cordero would be on the Yankees’ Opening Day roster.

Source: Diamond Sports Group will make its rights payment to the Padres before the end of the grace period, which is midnight tonight, and thus will continue broadcasting their games in the near future.

Diamond Sports Group, which operates under Bally Sports, will be carrying the games of all 14 major league teams under its umbrella on Opening Day, including the D-backs, with whom they entered into a grace period before bankruptcy proceedings.

Of course, a lot can change soon after, and teams are eventually expected to fall off, at which point MLB is expected to take over. Even the Padres, with a star-laden roster, are essentially month to month at this point. DSG seeks streaming rights, which it hasn’t secured.
