They would have to make tickets really cheap too.

Random factoid here, but I am pretty sure that Baton Rouge is the largest metropolis in the country without any sort of professional baseball.

Size of the city and ballpark are the main ones

I know it was top 3 for a long time. But that was about 3 years ago I heard that and I don't remember what other cities were bigger.
ETA: Every 2 or 3 years somebody in the advocate writes their column about it on the left side of the front page of the sports section. Similar to how every 4 or 5 months there is a thread about it on here.

I can get tickets along the 3rd base line almost any night for $6. Something along those lines would be reasonable for the fine folks of BR.
(Concession prices is where they stick it to you)

You can sneak shite into minor league games.
Posted on 7/29/09 at 5:02 pm to TexasTiger6777
And I would pay around $100-$150 for season tickets definitely.

For Double-A? Forget it. The Mississippi Braves in Pearl, MS charge $650 for dugout and $450 for field, according to their site.
For shits and giggles, Braves' single-A team charges:
Club Level- $690
(Three Year Commitment, Includes membership to Three Rivers Club)
Field Level- $490
Box Seat- $340
Zephyrs?
$525 - Field Box
$475 - Lower Reserved
$425 - Grandstand

Well frick that. And I don't think BR could charge that much and get people to go to the games.

I did alot of research with this and I am pretty sure BR is the SECOND largest city in the US without a MLB affiliate. Honolulu does not have a minor league baseball team.
Largest US Cities
List of Minor League Teams
Someone can double check all 80 of those cities but be warned it takes awhile

But how many of those cities have a strong sports program - of any kind - to compete with?
Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with a minor league team in BR - but you've got two cities fairly nearby off the top of my head (New Orleans and Pearl, MS) with minor league teams - would having another one close by be a great idea?

as I said before I went to a couple Asheville Tourists game that had at most 40 people and they have been around since the babe. It doesnt take that much support to keep them going. I am 100% positive BR could support a single-a or double-a team. Triple-a is a push.
