There was no fence riding. He made a decision to take politics out of goddamn football, where it shouldn't have been in the first place.

We (Rangers) have a creed that we live by. You can google if you want to know what is states, but one part of the creed ends with "under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country."

His actions were in line with that creed.

Agreed. If you read the linked article I think you will come to a different conclusion relative to Tomlin and the Steelers intentions here. You can fault, criticize and be pissed at them for poor timing and execution of their plan, but what they thought they were doing to stay out of this was clear to them.

No one says these guys are rocket scientists... they botched it, did so horribly and if they had the chance to make a different decision would likely do so. I expect you will see them out of the tunnel and standing for their next game.

To date, no Steeler has taken a knee.

HOW DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THEY WERE DOING OUTSIDE THE PUBLIC VIEW?

I get that but his current employer wanted to take the team out of the equation. He should not have gone against the direction of his coach.
