he's had his team in the playoffs every year and gotten to the conference championship once. so being one of four teams remaining out of 32 is close if you ask me.

You still haven't given me a reason to take Rivers over Ben. Or that Rivers is better. Just sayin BNAP.

Exactly. I don't think they should be discounted, and I definitly think they have a small say in QB arguments (3-4% maybe?) but it is nowhere near the end all be all. Hell, you can argue that Trent Dilfer would have been a better QB in Ben's first Super Bowl.

Possible, BUT lets look at the MISTAKES the Giants made to help Dilfer be the winning QB in that game. He really only made ONE good pass the whole game. that was to Stokley for the TD. The rest of the game was D and Lewis.

I wouldn't say making a championship game once in as many years as he's been in the League is "getting close."

Ben has had his team in four championship games.

And the AFC West has been a bad division for many years. Oakland has been terrible. Denver was decent, but hasn't done anything lately. Kansas City before last year was garbage. With the talent on that team, Rivers should have had his team in the playoffs as many times as he did. But when he got them there, his teams never did anything. They beat up on the weak sisters and could never beat the NFL's elite.

ETA: Rivers hasn't had the Charges in the playoffs every year like you said.

So Dilfer >>>>>>> Marino by your expert analysis. I mean he did take his team to a Super Bowl victory while Marino couldn't get his team over the hump.

Always a horrible argument. Rings can certainly be a factor when deciding between 2 close players. I think it is fair to say that Rivers and Big Ben are close in terms of individual performance.

No, dickbag.

The argument at hand is who is better between Roethlisberger and Rivers

Dilfer and Dan the Man aren't in the same class of QB unlike Roethlisberger and Rivers who are

Roethlisberger and Rivers play on the field is comparable, imo. Due to Ben's ability to lead his team to three SB and four championship games as opposed to Rivers' zero and one, I give the slight edge to Ben over Rivers.

You throw that word "lead" out pretty loosely. I realize QB is the most important position on the field. But does the QB deserve credit for an elite defense? I think Big Ben is a great QB but I dont buy team accomplishments as a tie breaker.

The QB is the single most important position in sports. He conducts the offense. He's the signial caller. Ben led his team to FOUR SB's, and he's not even close to being done.

Rivers had the #1 O + #1 D last year and couldn't even lead his team to a playoff birth in a historically bad (at least the past 5-7 years) division.

This actually works against your argument. What more do you expect Rivers to do? Return punts? Cover kickoffs?

Do you think Mark Sanchez has been the 2nd best QB in the AFC the past 2 years? Just curious.

This is fricking retarded. So it's Rivers' fault that the Chargers' special teams were god awful last year? It seems like he was doing the best he could by having the #1 offense last year.

This is one of the worst ways to try to prove a point.

Obviously. He made it to the AFC championship game, so he must be better than the others.

Rex Grossman is a better QB than Rivers because he's been to the Super Bowl. FACT
