Memphis legend Penny Hardaway is "actively preparing to be a college coach" and has already started identifying possible future staff members, multiple sources have told CBS Sports. Meantime, Memphis president Dr. David Rudd told the Commercial Appeal on Tuesday that his administration is "going to evaluate the program at the end of the year," which effectively confirms what CBS Sports has learned: Memphis is seriously considering firing Tubby Smith and replacing him with Hardaway.

The former NBA All-Star currently runs the Team Penny Nike EYBL program and serves as the coach at East High in Memphis -- where he has assembled an incredible roster favored to soon win a state championship. Between Team Penny and East, Hardaway has ties to three top-40 players in the Class of 2019 -- No. 1 James Wiseman, No. 26 D.J. Jeffries and No. 40 Chandler Lawson.

You’d think after
Dana Kirk
Larry Finch
Cal
Paster

They’d learn their lesson?

They make UNLV USC hoops look clean.

The great story of Hardaway decommitting from Arkansas. Duh. If you're not going to tell it can you at least provide a link?

Arkansas had him they got parents jobs and house in Ft Smith because they didn’t want to make it obvious

Used Huery’s coach from Whitehaven to get it all lined out

So Memphis comes in using better home but no job just pay the parents. This time they used Hamilton’s coach who wanted Day to be the only superstar in Fayetteville.

They also then used Huery’s like of 14 year old girls against Arkansas and told them that it was something Arkansas was going to go down for. They then told Penny they had David Vaughn. They used Vaughn’s money to pay off Penny’s HS coach to ensure it.

Vaughn’s grandmother wouldn’t take money as she worked as a maid in governors mansion. So not sure how they paid him, nobody knows.

But somehow Finch knew nothing until the very end.

To get players out of Memphis you pay them, the coaches, and the parents.

Shelton and Bradshaw probably only 2 that didn’t get paid since they were White Station Guys.

How Memphis got Keith Lee was better. Lee had committed to stAte and never moved off of it. All of a sudden there are rumors of an investigation in Jonesboro. Lee is now a Tiger. Funny thing is it was Memphis St that made up a story to get him and by time the NCAA investigation cleared stAte Lee was a Sophomore.

Had to Google who huery was. Kinda ironic.

quote:

Huery sold his Final Four ring for $1,500 to settle a $3,000 debt with the city of Memphis for unpaid traffic fines from 1991.

quote:

Huery played on the Razorbacks' 1990 Final Four team and in 2005 graduated with a bachelor's degree in education. Huery had 29 credit hours remaining after he completed his time playing for the Razorbacks in 1991. Huery is No. 13 in scoring for the Razorbacks, with 1,550 points and had a career per-game scoring average of 11.6 points.
