Get the frick out of here. I am a hornets fan, but that's just a dumb arse statement.

So 14 how long have you been a hornets fan??? Just curious if it was before last year? Not saying it wasn't. Just checking.
I've been a New Orleans Hornets fan my entire life.

But seriously, folks...I switched allegiance from Boston to New Orleans as soon as the Hornets completed their last game in Charlotte.

Yes. The Hornets 2007 season was basically a mirror image of the Saints 2006 season. First year back, special NOLA-centric patch, new NOLA centric logo, first time we'd had a sellout string, first time every time you leave your house you see Hornets flags and jerseys.

It's called civic pride. Did you not root for the USA in the 2002 Olympics after the 9/11 Attack?

You get the frick out of here. How can somebody from NOLA not root for a team whose star players were out handing out food, toiletries, helping to rebuild houses, donating playground equipment, visiting schools telling kids to hang in there, etc.

Not really. Katrina was way worse than 9/11. It's just the best example available.

Who really gives a shite what team somebody roots for in professional sports. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy sports and the teams I root for. However, I think it's completely different from college in the fact that these players really have no allegiance to the state or city they play in. They aren't there by choice. They're there because that's who drafted them and sings their check.

They are great people. Thanks for the support.

But if a 60 year old man has been a Celtics fan for his entire life, you had better not expect him to throw away all of his Leprechaun gear and invest in Bee shite because a storm hit the city.

It has nothing to do with which one was worse. You are comparing a city team to a NATIONAL team.

+1 I've been a fan of the Spurs since David Robinson, long before the Hornets moved to NOLA. Hell, long before they were even a team.

That's not always true, as evidenced by the 2006 Saints and 2007 Hornets. It's my whole fricking point. Those teams were special - you have thousands of people (girls, grandmothers, etc) who never watched football in their lives becoming diehard Saints and Hornets fans because of what it meant to the city of New Orleans. But some of you (reddman, stewart) are apparently too fricking daft to comprehend the bond between those two teams and the city of New Orleans, whose banner each team proudly carried.

Exactly. The Saints and Hornets had a much more intense bond with their city (99% of people affected) than US Soccer or Olympic teams had with an entire country of which 99.999% wasn't even effected.

The Hornets were around longer than the Admiral. Not by much, but you know we have to correct you on here.
