They are talking about how this Japanese team practices for 5 hours on Saturday and Sunday, YEAR AROUND. They have a designated number for a captain (18) the use yearly.
From my understanding they just have the best 14 players from the entire city (which is huge).
How are they doing this? do the international teams not follow the same little league all star rules as the U.S.?
Any U.S. team seems severely over matched every year and I assume it's because it's a typical all star team comprised of the best 12 out of a league of 8-12, vs what seems like a "travel ball" team.
Anybody else wondered the same or have any answers?

IMO, the Japanese just take it more seriously overall than even the travel baws here.

It's a different level there.

To be fair... the American teams are mostly predetermined within an organization before the season has begun.. the draft and league is legit but the all star team consists of travel kids that play in the league. Not nessecarily from the same travel team..

This is very true.
I assume that's how they get away with it as well. Maybe they just practice as a team that has yet to be officially "selected"

AS sad as it sounds... The Japan kids take this way more serious...

Just my opinion....

Unfortunately, this is becoming the norm for Pony baseball too.

So why aren't there more Japanese in the MLB players? I'm sure their Japan pro league isn't bush league, but it's no MiLB even.
Why is the talent and hardwork not translating?
