Everyone can argue both sides till they are blue in the face.

The reality is that if the Selects+some publics form a new org, it will be well run, well financed, will be able to pay officials more, and because of that, sponsorships.

Now a private school plays a public at their home game. Private brings 200 fans, pub has 20. That gate (and concessions) will disappear for the pub if a hard split happens.

This won't end well for the pubs. They will have won the battle but lose the war.

Been out of state for last few days. Have the Privates left LHSAA yet?
