Yeah I feel like the decline really started around 2010. From what I understand, leadership there was very poor.
They recently brought in an alum to either be the headmaster or head of fundraising or something, and are on their way back to being a good school again. As a Country Day guy, it's honestly sad to have witnessed the STM decline. We used to have some really good competition with them. Then one day STM seemingly just got worse at everything.
That would explain the running off of a major "problem child" last year after his 9th grade year(a non athlete but from a family with lots of ties) -
Religious based private schools have been chasing a shrinking demographic for years.

I think Curtis went there for lower school and maybe start of middle school, but I'm pretty sure he's been at CD since 7th grade at least.
Curtis was at St. Martins until 8th grade and then transferred to CD and stayed back a year to repeat 8th again there.

They did have a decline back a bit and lost a few kids when they turned over headmasters, but I would say they are in pretty good shape again. Have several good athletes there right now and are just building back enrollment. Had a drop off in football this year with losing Harlem, but that was understandable. Basketball team was made it to Lake Charles this year and was ranked 2nd for most of the year. Baseball is currently ranked 1st in state.

That’s good to hear, I have no desire to see a good school struggle. I know their most recent headmaster hire was a good one.
