now that the cream is rising to the top, who is left to talk about high school football. Hoping for a district 7 2a rematch of UHS and EHS in Baton Rouge next week. Sucks to have to miss LSU destroy the pigs while heading to north La. this week.

Yeah, I hate having to miss the LSU game but I will record it. I will be going to Alexandria to watch Breaux Bridge.

Here's the 5a games:

Ruston-Mandeville
West Monroe-Barbe
Byrd-Rummel
Carencro-Jesuit

I think Jesuit beats Carencro 38-31

Why are y'all missing the LSU game for high school football? Coaches? Players?

Because I can record the game and because I like watching some future Tigers. Not to mention it's the playoffs.

Probably so.

Episcopal has a better shot at beating Winnfield than U-High does of beating Calvary, but neither will probably happen.

I understand what you're saying to an extent, but it's the #3 vs #1 team in the country. It's the quarters for football, there will be better games next week.

meh. i think mandeville runs out of gas, as does rummel. jesuit, despite being undefeated and 2 seed, will probably be considered the underdog from here on out. but i think they move to the semis. i dont know enough about barbe to call that game, but wm is sure on a roll

I understand that, but why are you acting like you have to come with me?

Then that must be a very small chance at U-High beating Calvary because Winnfield had Episcopal beat from the get go last year in the playoffs, and Winnfield is a lot better team this year than they were last year. Unless Episcopal has improved more than Winnfield did, then Episcopal's chances are pretty slim as well.

And yes, I am saying this with Winnfield blinders on, but Winnfield's team this year would smoke Winnfield's team from last year. Moore and GIlbert have improved so much and that defense is lights out this year. If Winnfield can cut the penalties out, it should make for a very good game against Calvary if those two teams play next week.

Ruston is scrappy. I think back to back weeks of long bus trips will take a toll on them though. I don't think either can beat the WM/Barbe winner though. I have Byrd and Carencro winning this week as well. This is by far the toughest week each year, especially for teams that have never been there. It is very easy for teams to get distracted since they're out all week for Thanksgiving. I wouldn't be surprised with any team losing this week.

This. Not gonna happen, but it would be a great game. I'm an Episcopal grad and it's awesome to see how far Coach Bourgeois has taken Episcopal since he took over (the year after I graduated). U-High has always been a district rivalry for us, mainly because we all know each other, but a rivalry none the less.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that. Winnfield only won by 11 points last year. I wouldn't exactly consider that a blowout. Needless to say, both U-High and Episcopal have their hands full this week.
