Officials just fricked up in the BM Curtis game. Personal foul call against Curtis after the play that made a first down. Instead of being first and 25, they brought the chains back and made it first and ten, fifteen yards back.

Curtis seems to always show up in the playoffs.

I know there's some LA high school football rules nuances, but I was surprised there was a defensive holding on a play that resulted in a touchdown. Penalty assessed on kickoff. Wouldn't that be penalty declined, result of play a TD? And only penalties dead ball or on the extra point counted for kickoff?

That's correct in high school if the foul occurred right after the play. The new line to gain isn't established until the ball is set for the next play

No, any penalty by defense during a scoring play up until the ready for the try can be carried over to the try or kickoff.

I get that, but it's stupid. Should be 1st and 25.
and if that's the case, don't give them the first down, bring it back 15 yards and repeat the down.

quote:. Makes perfect sense since chains not set nor ready for play - been that way - no point in adding- Now when a team gets an UNS right after the ready for play - 1st and 25
I get that, but it's stupid. Should be 1st and 25.

But the official has the ball marked where it's down correct?

That was changed years back. Mainly because of players getting “on purpose fouls “ on obvious TD plays

An official has a spot, but the ball isn't ready for the offense to snap it again.

Yes but they aren’t gonna make first and 25 for JC nor anyone else??
Just like a late hit out of bounds on a 4th down play that does not give the offense a first down -
I’ve seen a semifinal pretty much end like that
