He's fourth in the league in scoring, 11th in assists (only non-pg in the top 20), and eighth in the league in FG percentage (the only non-center in top 10).

He's also in the top 5 in usage rate and has like a 9% turnover rate. Tell the full story now.

Okay, number one in player efficiency rating and 12th in the league in steals.

If those other Heat fricks could shoot worth a damn, Bron would've had 25 assists.

The Heat are generally a good shooting team. Lebron attracts so much attention on the ball that he dish open corner threes to teammates.

Some teammates have a bad shooting night, but that is just randomness. It could happen that the Heat shoot 60% another night.

What were Lebron's per 36 tonight compared to his season average?

The full story is Lebron is on pace for the best statistical season since Wilt, and the best perimeter player season of all time. Jordan's highest ever PER was 31.9, Lebron is at 31.7 and just posted a 37.1 PER in the month of February. He's only 19th in the league in turnovers per game, averaging less than guys like Rondo, Harden, Westbrook, Durant, Bryant, Howard, Irving, Wall, Holiday. His assist/turnover ratio is 32nd best in the league, 3rd among small forwards behind Ronnie Brewer, who never plays, and John Salmons.

30 pts, 6 reb, 12 ast

His season avg is 25, 7.5, 6.5 per 36.

He also shot 64% for the month of February. So he's got that going for him. I think Haberstroh said he was the first player since Kareem to shoot >64% in a month with >200 shots attempt.

Hollinger's PER is a joke and he gives up more points per game than Blake Griffin does. Your move.

Has to be, but his initial post about usage rate was a plus to LeBron. Having that high a usage rate and being that efficient with that few turnovers is nearly unheard of. So I was confused at first.

Any reasoning that PER is a joke? Or any sort of link or statistic regarding Lebron's defense you care to share?

Lol, are you actually saying Blake Griffin is a better defender than Lebron James?

Yep. There was a douche last month that was banned. This is at least the 3rd generation of that annoying alter.

I wouldn't go as far as to call it a joke, but I'm not a huge fan. It really loves volume scorers. I believe you can shoot as low as around 35% FG and still benefit from taking shots. WS/48 or WS is a much better metric in my opinion.

That said LeBron is having a Top 10 all-time WS/48 season as well. As of now it would be 8th best. So it's really all moot for this conversation.

I just don't really like the ubiquitous use of PER because of ESPN.

Then you don't understand statistics. The reason they use that stat is because over time it averages out inconsistencies in play, i.e. when Lebron sits the whole fourth period because his team has 30 point lead.

I think you just have to make a third of your shots. However, I think the high volume shooters take a little too much flak to be honest.

It serves nicely to get a general gauge of a rough worth, but it is certainly not an end all, be all.

why do the heat keep wearing those awful 90's jerseys with like a foot wide white number shadow?

I don't think you understood any of what I wrote to be honest.

Even if you're right, someone shooting 35% shouldn't benefit from taking more shots. And obviously it's not the end all be all, but PER has become so big that people try to use it as such. Damn ESPN!
