Played TPC of Las Vegas about 3 weeks ago. Nice course, good shape, about 1,000,000 rabbits all over the course lol. Enjoyed it and pace of play was good.
Took $100 cab ride to the Wolf Course(or whatever the frick it is called/3 courses on the property), played 4 holes, wayyyyyyy too many ppl, proceeded to drink in the clubhouse bar. $200 mistake. Should have went to the pool and drank all day

Paiute stinks. Too far, always windy, not super nice in my opinion. Not a big Painted Desert fan either.

My advice is to pay a little extra and play a course that every hacker in Vegas cant afford. Playing in back a bunch of dudes who can't hit it in the air will ruin your day. A more expensive course should weed those peeps out

TPCs are good, Bears Best is good, Spanish Trail is pretty good if you can get on, same with Canyon Gate. Rio Secco is good.
If you've got a lady with you, the Mesquite courses are pretty good, an there's always a golf/spa package that's inexpensive. It's just an 80 mile drive.

Thanks for all the advice everyone, kind of leaning towards rio secco. Have to play somewhat early, because we are playing a poker tournament that starts at noon

There's a lot of good tracks here. I just try to discourage people from going to places like Painted Desert or Las Vegas National which are really just pretty good local courses that happen to be located in Vegas. Then again, I haven't played out of town in a while, so they may be good compared to some other local places across the country.

Wolf Creek, Bears Best, Rio and if you can get on Dragon Ridge CC, Badlands is the cheapest of the ones I mentioned. All are good courses, play the back tees.

Badlands is target golf at it's worst. It was my home course in high school golf, and I fricking hated/hate it.

Their twilight rates start fairly early.
This was 10 years ago, but we played one of the payute (sp) reservation courses for half price at like 11:30. I think it was normally 100 and we paid 50 which included cart. This was early august and I think people there find it too hot you play at that time. But we had just flown in from Louisiana and played the day before, so zero humidity was awesome. The sun does beat down on you though.
Eta: Just saw your post about needing to play early.

I don't remember it being that far. It definitely was windy though.
Surprised about you saying it's not nice. When we played there wasn't a single blade of grass out of place, it seemed. Maybe they've gone downhill?
