Lance Armstrong settles for 5MM with US gov't

Us Gov't were suing for 100MM
I kind of hope Lance drags his one testicle across Landis' face. Because of this..
With all that the world knows now, about doping in cycling, and was already fully aware of in other real sports.
Do you think Lance was the American that had to take this hit and be the fall guy?
Also don't frick with the USPS.

The deal announced Thursday came as the two sides prepared for a trial that was scheduled to start May 7 in Washington. Armstrong’s former U.S. Postal Service teammate Floyd Landis filed the original lawsuit in 2010 and is eligible for up to 25 percent of the settlement.

Landis, himself a former doping cheat who was stripped of his 2006 Tour de France title, sued Armstrong under the federal False Claims Act, alleging Armstrong and his team committed fraud against the government when they cheated while riding under the Postal Service banner.

He was actually doing way more good than harm.
Who cares about cycling?
But he was raising tons of money for Cancer kids.
We as a world are obsessed with "cheating" and don't see the bigger picture.

Was anyone doing the tour de Frances not cheating?

Landis was stripped of his 2006 Tour de France title in 2007. Landis sued Armstrong after this, in 2010.

If the government wins the case, Landis could receive a reward of some percentage of the award.
Landis' accusations came almost three years before Armstrong finally confessed to doping in 2013, filing the False Claims Act suit on June 10, 2010.

I agree. Do you think Armstrong had a moral dilemna in thinking his cheating was OK? Especially because everyone was doing it?
If you're going to cheat you might as well be the best at it.

It's not just the cheating though, Pharmstrong went out of his way to ruin lives of those who accused him.

Yeah...he is apparently known as a POS.
But his foundation was bigger than him.
He raised more money than any private citizen in history for cancer research and treatment.
The people who accused him knew cycling was full of cheats and should have just minded their own business.
They wanted fame too. Or some acted like jealous lovers, like Landis. Sometimes for the greater good, you have to turn a blind eye.
Lance had to defend himself to defend his organization...and so they brought him down...and harmed millions of kids with Cancer.

Why is that funny?
Do you know how much money his organization was raising for research?
Jesus Christ...I bet you never knew anyone who had a Cancer you insentive prick.

Sure, but no one with any real chance of winning.

I bet the Lance haters love cancer so much they jerk off to the thought of people getting cancer.

Who were the victims here? I'd argue everyone got what they bargained for when Lance dominated cycling and gave USPS this massive worldwide platform, such fricking BS these pampered athletes now crying over spilled milk

No doubt.
I think it's crazy the US gov't was suing for 3x the amount in sponsorships provided, while also retaining any net profits from those same sponsorships.
Let's not kid ourselves, Lance was the American hero, for overcoming ball cancer and winning Tour de France after Tour de France.
To say USPS wasn't making bank from Lance is absurd. Then the government turns around and takes legal action for 3x the amount. That's wild.

that settlement will cover about one hours worth of the money the USPS loses

Would be interesting to see the amount of donations in the year leading up to Landis outing Armstrong and the years afterwards. So in theory I suppose you could argue that they were harmed if the foundation money dried up

The Livestrong foundation is not hurting. I don’t know how SS says they are? They had huge years in 11-13 after Landis accused Armstrong.
