It will be Dykes' last game coaching the Bulldogs.

That's a hell of a sentence you put together, Sparky.

Is he really leaving for Houston? Guess I haven't been paying attention lately.

Where is Dykes rumored to be going? After watching the games this year it became very obvious he is twice the coach Dooley was.

Doubtful. The only job his name is being floated for is Houston. Essentially a lateral move.

Throw in that Houston will be in a bit of a rebuilding season without Keenum and Tech returns most key starters and has a simpler schedule in 2012, he'd be better off to stay and replicate this season's success to springboard himself into a better opportunity than UH

UH can offer more money than Tech and they were just a top-10 team. It's not a lateral move, especially with La Tech's conference situation still up in the air.

Rumors are that UH will make the announcement toward the end of the week -- after the Poinsettia Bowl. La Tech is working on an extension, and the only other true candidates for the job were on Sumlin's staff at UH. Dykes is a Texan and all that.

Of course, this isn't exactly the most solid evidence.

It's a C-USA school with a Big 12 budget. They can pay him a lot more.

because you have such an affiliation and allegiance to LSU?

reminds me of the dumbfricks I went to high school with who went to LSU-S, never set foot in Tiger Stadium, but were still "die hard" LSU fans.

oh, but LSU-S was still a harder curriculum. LOTS O' LOLZ!

Dykes' salary was around $460,000 and Sumlin was at $1.2 million.

I mean, as it stands now, UH is moving into an AQ conference. It sits in a recruiting hotbed. A new stadium is on the way. There are definitely reasons for him to make the move.

I graduated from Tech but am still a diehard LSU fan. I have been an LSU fan ever since high school, circustances prevented me from going to LSU so I went to TECH instead.

I pull for my bulldogs in every game except when they play LSU.

I pull for all Louisiana teams so yes I did pull for ULL and was glad they beat SDSU.

Louisiana Tech football coach Sonny Dykes may have some new paperwork to take with him on the Bulldogs’ bowl trip.

According to Bulldogs team spokesman Patrick Walsh, the school is working on a contract extension for the second-year coach who led Louisiana Tech to its first Western Athletic Conference championship in 10 years.

Upon his hiring in 2010, Dykes received a five-year contract that paid him $450,000 per season.

I've heard $700,000 is a possibility.

The legislative shennanigans to get named THE University of Louisiana for one, followed by the deliberate dropping of the Lafayette part. That'll do for starters.

Well, the name issue aside, it doesn't really change anything. LSU is still the top dog.

I don't have a problem with anybody who goes there, or any of the athletes, for that matter. Just the administrative/political types.
