Tech and ULM are virtual equals. In any given year, you'll see LSU in the top 15, Tech barely cracking the top 100, and ULM barely not cracking the top 100.
Take LSU out of this argument--this has to do with Tech and ULM/ULL, not LSU. LSU schedules Tech occasionally as a rent-a-win.

That's what Tech is scared of. They're scared of the unrealistic possibilities that their delusions have gleaned them.
In reality, if Tech and ULM played every year, ULM would win somewhere between 1/4 and 2/5 of the time over the course of any given chunk of years.
And nobody outside of Louisiana would give a damn.
