Shitty. None of the schools care. Make the fricking kicks.
At one of his offers they boast %100 graduation rate for scholarship football players that exhaust their eligibility. They figure out a way.

Its about more than sports.
Could be bc of academics, size, maturity, etc.
I have 2 with fall bdays. Both would've graduated at 17.
Held both back in K.
Best decision I ever made.

You seem like a smart guy, how does your kid have a shitty ACT?
Posted on 8/7/23 at 9:42 am to Jcorye1
IDK…I don’t drive him like my mom did to me. My mom taught me an algebra book the summer after my 7th grade year and that kind of sent me on my way. Graduated in physics from LSU and basically have worked in a cube for 23 years…I just don’t think it’s the end-all, be-all. My wife got a French Lit degree and makes more than I do. I’m not trying to act like I know what he needs to be successful in life. We send him to the best schools we can and support his dreams as much as possible, just try to raise a happy boy with manners and morals…and just see where that takes him.

He ate three microwaved pancakes and a Yoohoo fir breakfast…mom woke him up with caramel frappuccino. So yea…we could do much better.
jesus...i make my 2nd grader eat better and especially my 5th and 7th grader
example for them today, since they had to go to school today for 1st time(school hasnt started, their grandma who watches them teaches, so the younger 2 have to go)
breakfast- 2-3 eggs, 2-3 strips of bacon. Make a breakfast burrito. tomorrow i will do the same but do skirt steak in place of the bacon. We add shredded cheese and older 2 will add mayo, younger will add ketchup. younger will only do 2 eggs. they will have OJ to drink. adds up to over 750 calories
lunch- pack a thermos with a packet of uncle bens microwave jasmine rice and 6-8oz of chicken thighs cooked down in cast iron as a simple version of sticky chicken.
the youngest will have a mac and cheese pack and some 6oz steam in his thermos. he loves steak and ask for it everyday if we have it.
also have frozen grapes and pack of beef jerky(about 10-12g protein) for a snack.
they will drink powerade or water with this
after school when i pick them up, if we have practice that day they will want something so they usually have small sandwich if we have time. if not the older 2 will grab a protein shake out the fridge and drink that.
then a big dinner which will be lots of . if they lift, the older 2 will have protein shake after that.
i make all this and prep it on sunday. your kid is in high school, sorry but he should be making his own food.
should be prepping on sundays- grill chicken or in cast iron, grill steaks, cook ground beef. mix with micro packs of white rice or potatoes or even pasta.
eat eggs and meat for breakfast
couple protein shakes
shite is not complicated. sounds like he isnt bought in to eating and doing what it takes to reach his goals and doesnt sound like yall as parents are either.

man yall dont take academics serious either
coming from your pedigree he should have been taking pre algebra in 7th and algebra in 8th and then calculus his senior year
and starting in 10th grade he should have be taking act prep
frick supporting his dreams if he isnt making pretty much a 4.0.
what kind of message does it send if you are prioritizing athletics over academics?
i always see you bragging about him athletically and just assumed, knowing your background, that you would have him him prioritizing academics. Do you know how many more schools can recruit you if you have a 4.0 and how much more is available from a aide stand point?

100% and sounds like he knows it too
i mean this was the same parent that posted on here years ago, like 6 years ago.....that he didnt think an income of 200K was upper middle class and didnt see how people lived on less
so despite Gaston being brilliant in the area of physics and engineering....he isnt the brightest in other areas.

True…but he’s a bit different kind of athlete. Trust me, all of the other boys work out a shite ton. He just has different way…he’s just cleaner in form and uses his length advantageously. There aren’t kids in high school that can kick better than him.

My son didn’t take a math class his senior year of high school bc he had taken them all.
He’s a Bio Chem major at LSU and finished his first year. He took his last college math class online this summer.
Played sports at a high level since he was 6. Soccer and baseball, turned down a few D3, NAIA, Juco Baseball offers bc he wanted to go to LSU, join a Frat and chase tail. 27 ACT, not a dumb kid, he was realistic enough to know where the road leads you.

A year of physical growth is a big deal. But red-shirting high school kids is a shameful thing for parents to consider. Of course, being too stupid to pass your classes is nothing to brag about either.

ok so he is better from a skill side....so wtf do you think happens when he adds 15-20lbs of muscle and tons of strength and power.....and keeps skill side superior?
average kicker in the NFL is almost 200lbs....there is a reason for that
you sound exactly like travel baseball parents and they love to bring exceptions up. There is a reason the 2.75* height is considered magic number for a pitcher in baseball and 2.5x is considered minimal for injury prevention. Avg MLB pitcher has a weight to height coefficient of 2.81. that isnt by accident
kickers in the nfl are way way bigger than people think

Everyone loves their kids differently. I’m not his friend, I’m brutally honest with him. I just choose to not ride his arse about shite that I don’t specifically know will help him.
He’ll get paid handsomely to go to an SEC school, I don’t see WTF the problem is.

shite annoys me man. i catch so much shite from other parents for being too strict because for my kids....make a B for the year and you dont play....period
im not saying that is right for every kid. but all 3 of my kids scored gifted...im not cutting them slack just because the kids on their sports teams are not held to a higher standard.
its especially important in non football sports to make amazing grades because it opens so many other options and opportunities up to you. pretty good ball player but amazing student....yea the opportunities that open up in the form of schools are pretty amazing. Especially if you are a white male...its stupid important if you have big dreams for life in general(not talking dreams in sports).

And most of them are badass athletes. Goal by his Jr year of college is to be 190-195…if he doesn’t do that then he won’t go pro. He knows this. Arkansas’ kicker got there at 160 and he’s 190…right on schedule. My son sees this and knows what’s ahead. I wish he’d make the effort now…but I’m not the person that’s going tell him he can’t live up to his dreams if he doesn’t listen to my dietary advice.

the problem is he is wasting his potential. he comes from amazing genes academic wise and instead of harnessing that....you are making excuses for him. both on the academic front and athletics front.
he is apparently blessed athletically too, at least skill wise. but instead of pushing him, you choose to not ride him.
how about you sit his arse down and have a long conversation with him showing him why these things are important if he has big dreams for life in general, not to mention athletically.

he wont. he isnt self motivated.
he will be a backup pretty whole time, be lucky if not forced to transfer
not being mean but he doesnt have the self drive. seen 10 years with better drive and discipline.
he has no clue how competitive and how hard being a d1 athlete is and is unprepared. and frankly....and im not being a dick....thats on you.
