some say he will not opt out and wait till next summer for the ginormous max contract with the new salary cap.
Why not just sign a one year deal with LA and then sign the ginormous max contract with the additional year and raises for staying with the Lakers?

Maybe because the Lakers are garbage right now. But if he waits one year he gets one more year of playing with Lebron before he teams up with Durant in LA in 2016.

I would personally be pretty surprised if Durant ended up in LA.

Does he care about that? If he goes to LA now he can establish himself this next year with Kobe and the lotto pick as opposed to going there in 2016 with another star and trying to find his fit. He could go now and establish his role, importance, and touches this coming year and put up 24/12 like he did in Minnesota, then they go and sign another guy next summer.

I don't think you can sign a 1 year 20 million dollar deal in the NBA
And that would be very risky for him to do that. He just got injured and would be taking a huge risk if he left and did a 1 year deal. People sign max contracts for a reason. You can get injured on any play and go from being an all star to a nobody.

Win or lose I don't see him with the Cavs long term.

2 year contract with a 1 year opt out.
And if he opts in this year, he only has 1 year of contract security anyway.
