In terms of dominance, I disagree hence why I said unbeatable because teams gave them a run for their money and they struggled at teams against the competition but always refused to lose

Basketball Tournament was 32 teams for most of that time.
Had to win 5 games.

Football is 2 games to win if you qualify.

I’m going to say Wooden because there are not as many football teams capable of making playoff as there were teams back then that could win NCAA tournament.

Both are impressive.

Also to note, at that time, wasn't the NCAA tourney regionals actually TRUE regionals? Didn't they basically beat up on west coast mediocre teams until they got to the final 4? It's not like today where they balance the brackets. The West region was just west teams, and I believe they were much weaker than midwest and east coast teams.

So, they basically had a 2 game playoff like football.

What Wooden did at UCLA was incredible.

But I think it is much harder to sustain success in modern era football than it was in Wodden era basketball.

What I liked was you had to “qualify” for the tournament. Now you are “selected.”

Football is a “selection.” I wish it was a “qualifying” event.

The NIT was a great tournament for years because IF a great team got upset, they went to NIT.

For many years, I would say the NIT was at times thought of as just as big a deal as NCAAT.
