And oh the irony it would be for the Colts to lose to the team they helped get into the playoffs while ruining their shot at a perfect season
You wouldn't see teams laying down like that ever again. At least not against playoff contenders.

if the playoff was just 8 teams, then there would be a lot of meaningless games toward the end of the season since so many teams wont have a shot at the wildcard.

The only other playoff option is Houston, who would have been a shitty playoff team and probably one and done.
as the final seed, this should pretty much always happen

Well they did beat the Bengal's and Patriots with out either of them laying down.

Divisions make travel easier on teams and give added entertainment to the league

I really fail to see how the Chargers record proves they were the better team when they played the fricking Raiders, Chiefs, and Broncos 6 times.
Can a non-playoff proponent explain this?

regular season record over a 16 game sample establishes this
What does losing the biggest game of your season at home establish?

That's the NFL! All they had to do was make it in to the playoffs and then it's a whole new season for 'em.
My hats off to 'em
And Sanchez is a beast!

After 16 games they had the 5th best record, some of us feel that such a record should not qualify a team for the playoffs. Its an opinion. The NFL and most of its customers/fans do not share that opinion. Some people incorrectly use phrases like the Jets don;t belong ore don't deserve to make it or are garbage etc. That is called hyperbole. Under the NFL system the Jets deserved to make the playoffs and have taken advantage of that chance, good for them. IMO it cheapens the regular season.

Are you serious?? hahaha honestly?.. They got into the playoffs with the LUCK and good fortune of being scheduled to play the colts who were done. Rex Ryan sat in front of a press conference with a fricking wish list! Stating please don't let Peyton Manning play the whole game! They were LUCKY to get in....so then we come to the term jets = lucky garbage

they did what they had to do to get in (even though they had 5 terrible losses)...it's not their fault that their final two opponents decided to rest their players
...and wow I can't believe some of yall are completely against the playoff format

I think it's fine the way it is...
I actually don't like the MLB playoff format but I guess I'm in the minority on that

can you not be a edouche for 1 day?
No one knows what would have happened either way. Given the relative strengths of the 2 teams, how they were playing at the time and the fact it was at Indy I would gueestimate the Colts had an 70-80% chance of winning at full strength, leaving 20-30% chance the Jets win anyway.
