the point is, it doesnt make it right, and it surely doesnt make it "proper technique". It will never be either, especially the latter.

I agree that football isn't very safe, not right or wrong just the way the game is.

So Harrison should not try and hit him and cause a fumble

If he wanted a fumble he would've gone for a strip, not put his head down to hit him.

He is also supposed to assume that he was going to drop the ball?

I guess he wouldn't have to assume in that situation considering it was happening before the hit. So again, why did he put his head down and go helmet to helmet when a proper form tackle does the same exact thing?

I played just about everything I was a lineman in pop warner. Then in middle school I was a QB. Then in HS on JV I got moved around everywhere. On varsity my junior year I was the backup QB and played on all special teams.

What happened your senior year? Sounds like you were in line for the starting QB job?

yes, but helmet-leading shots are not part of the game and will be phased out over time through better technique, education, penalties, fines, suspensions, and equipment.

helmet-leading shots are a relatively new fad in football and will be CORRECTED. a form tackle does not include spearing.

You serious? look up Hardy Brown, Steve Atwater, John Lynch, Jack Tatum, Dick Butkus, Dick Lane, Rodney Harrison etc etc.

"Hemlets touching" is not a "helmet to helmet" hit. Of course "helmets touching" happen "hundreds of thousands" of times over the weekend. "Helmet to helmet" hits do not.

Get a clue.

you listed 3 new players and a few exceptions that paid the price or will, unfortunately due to head trauma.

Brown died in 1991 at a mental institution.

Tatum couldn't even make up his own mind...

Massaquoi was looking down trying to catch the ball, therefore his head was in front of most of his chest. Harrison did his job both times

Please explain how this is possible. Does Massaquoi have the neck of a giraffe?

I just read through this entire thread, and you have posted some of the most childish and immature things I have ever read on this sight. We are all dumber for being exposed to it. That being said, do you actually believe that players tackling with correct form and playing the game fair could do anything to ruin the game? Anyone can lay out a defenseless reciever, but someone that can go one on one with a guy in the open field, wrap him and and put him on his arse, thats real football.

Yes it is the same degree as to how hard they touch is not what people get mad about its the helmet to helmet contact.

And yes Helmets do hit each other hard hundreds of thousands of times every week.

Do I have to draw picture for you? If your knees are bent and you have your head down looking at the ball your helmet will be down in front of your chest.

So they should let them catch the ball and not lay out the receiver?

Putting the crown of your helmet into the reciever's jaw and wrapping up and form tackling are two completely different things. You fail to understand this.

They are 2 different things used in 2 different situations. When separating the man from the ball you don not form tackle you hit what you can as hard as you can.

There is no appropriate situation for an intended helmet to helmet hit!!! How do you still not get this???

This is idiotic. A good form tackler can make a form tackle very hard while still protecting himself and not injuring the ball carrier.

Are you this thick headed to still believe that spearing is a strategic move???

We've all said this to him, and I think its time to give up (myself especially.) He clearly doesn't understand this and isn't trying to.
