Throw out that BS split title in 97 and Minnesota has a more recent natty.
What made it BS? Michigan was #1 in both polls going into the bowl games. I feel it was a fair split that year.

I still can't get over the Jordan logo being used for football. Getting blown out with a basketball logo on your jersey is funny to me.

quote:No. Michigan is a school that self-limits. Until that changes there are only 2 Big 10 schools that have potential to be SEC Big 6 caliber. (Essentially, have the resources and wherewithal to potentially be a perennially contending juggernaut) Ohio State and Penn State
Is there anyone that can?

2011 they beat a Tressel-less Ohio State. Then you gotta go back to 2003.
Scary thing about 2011 is that OSU was 6-5 going into that game. Mich was 9-2 and heavily favored
The game was a dogfight
OSU QB at time (Braxton?) missed a wide open WR running up sideline with 20 seconds left. Would have sealed the win

Why would fans of other B1G schools want Michigan to get a better coach?
It would appear that you misread my post

. I can’t remember the last time Michigan beat OSU. They haven’t even sniffed victory in probably a decade
2011 was the last time they beat tOSU.
They went to double OT a couple years ago.

This is an important detail a lot of people don't realize.

Yep. Missed him by half a football length.

The last play
Harbaugh had flipped out over the refs' call right before that, and his defense collapsed. Just gave up.
2013 they scored late and went for 2, to win in regulation. Gutsy call for sure. Failed though.
2014 JT Barrett got hurt in a close game and Cardale Jones came in cold to win it.
2017 JT Barrett got hurt in a close game and Dwayne Haskins came in cold to win it.

It really has been heartbreaking
2005...Troy smith goes on game winning drive at big house
2006.....Shawn crable late hits and OSU player out of bounds. Penalty seals the game for OSU (it was good call btw)
Michigan can never seem to make the decisive play in this rivalry game
We need to gain swagger and confidence

Yep. Three things caused the title to be split between Michigan and Nebraska in 1997:
1) #1 Michigan struggled in the Rose Bowl against #8 Washington State
2) #2 Nebraska annihilated #3 Tennessee in the Orange Bowl
3) It was long-time head coach Tom Osborne's last game as the Nebraska head coach and the coaches who voted in the Coaches Poll that year wanted to send him out a national champion
It's a shame those two teams couldn't meet each other in the national championship game that year. It would have been the nation's #1 defense (Michigan) vs. the nation's #1 offense (Nebraska).

There was also sentiment that Nebraska should've had a loss based on an illegal play that the refs botched. That all went away though when Osborne announced he was retiring a few days before the Orange Bowl.

I’d take the guy from cal, the guy from Iowa state, urban Meyer, or an Oklahoma offensive assistant

how?
Michigan took the mantle of #1 public university from cal "berkeley" after budget cuts at cal.
Do they expect the would-be student athletes to do coursework?
