has been in the ACC since 2004 and this will be their first trip to the ACCCG. The 4 years prior to joining the ACC, Miami won 46 games and only loss 4. Also, they won the 2001 NC with prob. with one of the best teams ever. With a win over UVA this weekend, it will be their first 10 win season since joining the conference. I know there was some bad coaching hires but how can a program that was so good fall so far away?

there was a NCAA shadow over that program for years and the school administration pretty much tried to handicap the football program

The former University president Donna Shalala had a lot to do with their downfall. She wanted the money that a premiere football program brings in but didn't want ANYTHING to do with the thug image of Miami's past.

She told Butch Davis that he wasn't allowed to let former Hurricane greats onto the sidelines during games.

She was more than happy to take checks from Nevin Shapiro who almost brought down the NCAA hammer on the university. 8 players were suspended from the team for having dealings with Shapiro but Shalala had been seen hanging out with him.

That's all bad for the football program but that's not to say she was a bad president for the University. She did many great things for the academic side. She just didn't really care about the non-academic pursuits.
