Because college football and MLB are white people sports. I really think that's the reason. ESPN has gone fully "hip", liberal, and urban with their talk shows. College football and MLB don't fit that mold.

I checked the ratings of the NBA Finals, MLB World Series, and College Football National Championship, and the NBA Finals came in last out of those 3 in the key 18-49 demo.

So they can't even use the argument that they talk about the NBA the most because it's the young, trendy topic and the other sports are for old guys.

The NBA may have a higher percentage of younger people within their own audience compared to the other two sports. But the other two sports seem to have more younger fans in total numbers.

Considering I see 40 year old dudes on ESPN wearing Jordans with their Suits, I'm fairly certain you're on the money.

I don't really watch 1st Take, but Magic Johnson being on this morning may have been why it was basketball heavy.

Also, let's not act like week 1 of the NFL was really that interesting.

it was more interesting than anything that happened in the NBA in the last week. MLB also has the best team on an 11 game losing streak and the Indians on a 19 game winning streak. NCAA football had 4 marquee match-ups last weekend. Any of those topics are more interesting and newsworthy than NBA free agent signings last week or Colin Kaepernick still being unemployed.

Wait, what???

Ever look at the crowd of a NBA/NFL game? It's 90+ or more White people, especially the NBA. And many of the people of color at the game, are celebs, or kids given the tickets from charities.

I don't see the point in bitching and moaning about an opinion based show on ESPN2.

Anything involving Stephen A Smith is going to suck. This guy could ruin the weather channel if they gave him a chance.

That's because white people are the vast majority of the population and have more money on average to spend on going to live sporting events. White people are the largest consumers of rap music too.

But that says nothing about what is popular in minority communities. The Cleveland Indians being on a 19 game win streak isn't what black sports fans are talking about. They're talking about the NBA and Kaepernick.

I can't believe someone broke in your house, tied you up, and held your eyes open watching first take. I'm so sorry.

First Take caters to the urban community hence the talk of basketball year round along with race issues at ad nauseam and numerous rappers appearing on the show.

He really isn't that bad. You just don't like his delivery (Which isn't for everyone). I like when he goes on his rants about Phil Jackson, The Knicks or The Cowboys.

I also like when Will Cain is on the show. Max doesn't really stand a chance against Stephen A.

Not.

To me, the perfect sports show would be Cowturd and SAS in a spaceship crashing into the sun, followed by 30 minutes of sweet silence.

Who's buying all that gear though? Not the CEOs and executives in the stands.
