re: Is The Flea Flicker The Shittiest Trick Play Of All Time?

The screen and lateral that TCU ran and fumbled was pretty bad
I like hook and laterals but their version had the lateral coming 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage. That's just giving the defense more room to catch the lateral player and for disaster to happen(which it did)

The "Guard Around". The center squats on the ball, the guard pics it up and runs opposite side of where the play is going.
I was a guard and we ran it a couple times. Both times were very successful, but I always thought the play looked ridiculous and I was embarrassed to run it.

The fumblerewski (sp) is illegal in a lot of levels of play.

It's not about the front 7, it's about the DBs. The handoff is to bait them into moving towards the LoS so the WRs can get behind them. It doesn't work as much now because a 20+ year old trick play just isn't thst tricky anymore.

In NCAA...
It's almost impossible to run any kind of "lineman run" trick plays now. The planned loose ball play carries a 5yds + LOD and the only way a lineman can receive a hand off is if he turns to face his end line and is 2 yds behind the LOS.
....better to find a trick elsewhere.

And because the RB doesn't sell it anymore. He just pitches it back to the QB .2 seconds after he gets the ball.
If the RB sells it, it works. Watch Malcolm Jenkins sneak up to the bottom of the frame when he buys the run and does an "OH shite" when he realizes what happened.

Cam needs to add the toss dive flea flicker to LSUs arsenal.

The flea flicker works A LOT if run against teams that use a lot of cover one or cover zero.

Any variation of the "wrong ball" gimmick that gets Youtubed about 30 times a year as "BEST PLAY EVER!!!"
I loved the one where a DB knew exactly what was happening, and absolutely lit up the ball carrier.
And I always wonder if adults who invest time and resources into thinking that's worth doing should be teaching kids.

What do you call the play where you run an end around and but then the ball carrier throws the ball deep to an open receiver?
Tennessee did it against Iowa, as a point of reference.
That has to be the best trick play ever. It always works.

I think the Flea Flicker equivalent off the quick WR screen is the best. DBs and safeties have to fly up so fast to defend those quick smokes to the WRs that when they take a step back and pass it it seems like it's always open.
