As a multi-year season ticket holder, I did not. But guess what, I'm going to have them again next year and I'll be looking forward to watching Yu, whether it's his last year or not.

How often do mega contracts with pitchers work out? The only big pitching contract that has ended up working out is Cole Hamels. There are a few other deals with promising early returns such as Kershaw and Tanaka but it's still too early to call those contracts success stories. Every other contract has been a bust from C.C. Sabathia to Johan Santana to Matt Cain to Cliff Lee and so on.

You're essentially paying a premium over 7-years for 3-4 years of service. It's dumb as hell, but above average pitchers are not common. If you have one you have to do what you have to do to keep them.
