The average age of their entire roster is 22.5 years old.

BYU would be a historic Dynasty if this mattered all that much.
They've been trotting out married grown men since forever.

Lots of playing time experience through the portal is one way to level the field

Age + Experience.
Many on Indiana's roster have been playing football for the past 4-6 years. BYU's roster is older because they are Mormon men and required to go on mission trips. They aren't playing football for that period of time.

The landscape has changed. It's should be obvious to anyone that the bar for winning a NC is lower now. That's because there's more parity.
So, what was maybe not a differentiator previously, could be one now.
Elite QB combined with roster of seasoned players may now be enough to be king of the hill.

Saw an interview clip of Cignetti...stated he valued production over potential.

Same thing Michigan had in 2023. Had more 4th, 5th, and 6th year players on the roster than 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year guys.

How does that compare to other playoff teams?

Yeah, it may be a contributing factor but in terms of percentage of the reason I'd probably put it at 10%.
