Other than the fact that it completely ignores anything the owners say or do, the in-fighting amongst them over revenue sharing that has led to this, lying about losing money, etc., I suppose nothing is wrong with pledging undying allegiance to them simply cause they own the shite.

2. I'm going to watch the NFL regardless. I don't have a team. All I care about is watching the game. Like I said, the names on the back of the jerseys don't mean a damn thing to me. Same goes with my alma mater. They come and they go, but my love for my school and my team will stay the same regardless of the players.

You missed where I said that people on this board are not a representative sample of the sports consuming public as a whole. Just because you will watch doesn't mean that the masses will.

Fantastic. So then none of this really concerns you.

BUT, there are tons of people who are not like you.

I just don't really understand how someone can take the owners' side in this one

And I don't see how anyone can't blame the latest turn of events on the players.. A good proposal with solid movement was made by the owners and players said frick it.. The next six months of litigation is on them.

HAHAHA, so you don't think people can tell the difference between Chris Johnson running and Justin Vincent at top speed? Give it a rest

Sounds like you care more about the players than the game. Shitty POV imo. Basically negates all of your comments on this subject.

You do realize that the difference between a 3.7 and a 4.2 is hardy noticeable on the field of play is hardly, if ever noticeable right? Chris Johnson is great in part because of his speed, not exclusively because of it. Jerry Rice ran a 4.7 btw and he is in the Hall of Fame. Justin Miller ran in the 4.3s at the combine, do you even know who he is now?

So your sporting eye is so terrible you can't notice the difference between a player who runs a 4.3 and a player who runs 4.7.

Your point?

Owners have to sell out stadiums to make money. If they put out a crap product and they fill stadiums up to 35-50% of their original levels they're screwed.

So just because it's not the guys you like means it will be crappy? I hope you don't watch any high school football and ignore all but a few college football games.

In fact I only watch HS games if there's an exceptional player and I only watch top 25 college teams or college teams with exceptional players.

I have loyalty to neither. I don't give a frick if there's football next year. Hell if there isn't, then I make more money so they can lockout for eternity for all i care.

I'm here for the argument.

Nor does it mean they won't. Are you going to tell me that every person who watched the Super Bowl had a vested interest in the teams? Hell no. 95% of the people who watched the game had no dog in the fight. They watched it because of the game itself, not the players. It was the game that drew the fans and the players just happen to be privileged enough to be there.

it's ad revenue that would be the biggest hit.

If you can't sell stars (which is how games are sold), then you can't sell ad time for those games. Or at least not at the prices they're becoming accustomed to.

That affects future TV deals which is the backbone of the league.

i dont understand.
are u saying its not ok to earn profits off a business venture?

are you saying the owners shouldnt ever worry about their money?

Why?

because they already have enough money?

Thanks stalin.

New Indianapolis Colts star quarterback Jevan Snead will generate just as much interest.

It's the Super Bowl. 95% of the people were watching for the commercials. Just because the Super Bowl draws eyeballs doesn't mean that sub-par talent in week 4 will do the same.

How does one work a pay raise based on a lockout in another league into his contract?

Are you saying players aren't earning more profit off their talents than they could anywhere else?

You do realize that times that these players run in t-shirts and shorts, coming out of a sprinters stance, and running in a straight line has no barring on their ability on the field right? Like I said, Jerry Rice ran a 4.7. He's in the Hall of Fame. 40 times are meaningless.

And you are still assuming that the product would be shitty. Very foolish of you. The Carolina Panthers went 1-15 this year and their bottom line didn't suffer one bit. Why? They sold out 99& percent of their tickets by the end of May.

the nfl only sells about 25 "stars" all the rest hide behind their facemasks.

if the starting center of the GB packers came upto you and slapped u in the face with his dong, not only would u not know who he was, you'd tip him 12 dollars and ask for more. its cool, to each their own.

Yes, questioning why someone has blind allegiance to the owners simply "cause they own the shite" is the equivalent of saying that the owners should not make money, and is clearly me advocating for the NFL to adopt socialism. EXACTLY the same.

Because they were still playing teams that had stars. The team that finished 1-15 would still be better than any team that would be filled with players not currently on NFL rosters. The product would be shitty.
