The difference between LeBron and Harden right now is their perceived mental makeup.
In the playoffs, when a series gets tight, people see LeBron as being tough mentally and able to rise to the occasion and put the team on his back and will them to victory.
Harden has yet to earn that. LeBron didn't always have that. His mental makeup was questioned harshly in the past because he folded several times at the worst times. He overcame that and showed up big on the biggest stages to kill that narrative.
Harden will have more opportunities to show what he's made of. If he can rise to the occasion when things get tight in the playoffs and take over games and will his team to wins, he'll be seen as a much more formidable opponent in the eyes of fans and players alike. He would be expected to be an absolute monster because he would have earned it. He would be in that LeBron James stratosphere at that point.
That's why people say "yeah, Harden's the MVP this year but LeBron is still the best player". It's because you trust LeBron to take over in the biggest moments but you don't trust Harden to do it yet. If he can come through big in the playoffs, that thinking will begin to crack and he would be seen in the same light as LeBron. He's gotta go out and earn it.

So you’re telling me you never wanted Curry to fail?
No, that’s laughable and stupid. I enjoy watching greatness, I’d rather see the player I’m a fan of outplay him

Harden's more than likely going to win the award this season, that being said if LeBron sustains or even elevates his regular season production in correspondence with team success in the immediate following years, he should win at least one more of the MVPs before he hangs it up. It's really been a while since that last occurred, kinda absurd IMO.
CLASSIC BRON LOVER................

Nah, there’s much more differences than just mental makeup. At any rate I won’t snark at Harden for being mvp, he’s played the best on the team with the best record. That’s just the way it goes. I doubt it’ll be a landslide though. What’s fascinating is if the rockets didn’t have that record we’d likely be looking at a much more controversial mvp situation

Harden or LeBron. But Dame and AD have both been amazing.

I am a bigger team success guy than most and If I was a voter it would be:
Harden Lebron dame derozan top 4. Fifth would be Davis or Westbrook. When only 10 teams in the conference are even trying to make the playoffs and you don’t have even the 8th spot wrapped up til the last night of the season it is hard for me to reward that.

I agree. OP starts thread to hear people blow smoke up LJ arse. Truthfully Anthony Davis or Harden. Harden wins hands down as much as I dispise the guy

I wonder if they’ll attack you like they always do me

Records are basically identical, Pels have won the season series. AD averages more points, rebounds, blocks. Higher PER, higher eff.

Hardwn.
Has the team record, has the stats, and leads the league in scoring. Most importantly, the efficiency with volume is a big plus.
Yes cp3 and a better bench is there and makes them go from 50s win to 60s, but take them away and he's still churning the stats and would likely be a 2 seed this year.
AD has been phenomenal all season, but unfortunately they don't have the team/wins to give him the nod.
Dame came on the turn of the year, but for all of the winning in the past 2 months, his efficiency dipped while volume increased. The team has played phenomenal around him, can't give him the mvp or credit when he's shooting sub 40% and they win. That's a team accomplishment.
LeBron is carrying the Cavs, has the stats, playoff contenders, but I'm docking him for building that albatross to start the season in the first place. Can't blame the team around him and praise him for carrying them when he hand picked them and the damn contracts.

Yep you are right tran. He don’t try to trade Kyrie and they win 55 and the award is his. The offseason failures doomed him.

9 tankers v 4 last year. 50 win last year is like 45 this year.

No, people say Lebron is the best player because Lebron is the best player. It has nothing to do with perception. Lebron at his best is able to reach a level that Harden simply cannot, and never will be able to. Which isn't a slight to Harden, who is a remarkable player, but only a few in history had the ability to reach the level of greatness that Lebron can.

LeBron is one of those unicorn players we only see once/twice in a lifetime like Magic, Shaq, and Wilt before him and Ben Simmons/Greek Freak now as his heirs apparent, we need to appreciate this while we still can because when he's gone, he's gone and we'll be searching for the next him.

CLE won 51 last season. They'll win 50 or 51 this season.
Lebron is also about to play 82 games, 8 more than last year.
Everyone knows damn well Lebron-led regular season wins mean nothing, so using that as a base is pointless. It's the +/- that's concerning, that is usually not a concern in previous years. They're squeaking out wins with Lebron having to play phenomenal to even barely win. The team does truly suck outside of him, but it's largely on him for getting his boys overpaid.
I'm not even talking about the Kyrie trade, that in itself was just horrible management decision. I'm talking about Lebron's guys (wade, shump, JR, Thompson, etc) and the contracts they carried were definitely in part because of him and his group.
Lebron does deserve mvp recognition, but he's not the mvp this year.

Simmons and Greek freak are the heirs to be, but their biggest flaw will be shooting. Lebron had a decent shot to start, these two don't even have that.
It truly is crazy what Lebron is. We may not see another for a decade.
