It's going to be really entertaining cause there is going to be MASSIVE political pressure for texas to take care of tech, baylor, and even TCU now. That truly is one of the best things of the move for A&M. It forever freed us from having to take care of those schools

They should've never offered TCU in the first place. Would've been smarter to add Louisville. Huge mistake by the Big 12.

I was shocked and disappointed (even though I really didn't want SEC expansion) when A&M turned down the initial SEC invite in 2010 when conference expansion was first ramping up. It was always the best move for both parties. Hell, A&M should've followed Arky back in the '90s to free itself from the UT succubus.

baylor will try to get help from the state, but texas and tech will be a pair.

Baylor was left with their cocks in their hands last time. They had so little pull, that all they could do, is threaten lawsuits.

The 90s was all political. We straight up have reed arena today because we stayed with UT and went to the big 12

2010 was weird too because I just don't think A&M leadership was ready to make such a monumental move but we were absolutely coming to the SEC if the Pac group was still going out west

I would be scared to see what the sec rant would be like with the new schools.

Tech I can see. Baylor is radioactive. Nobody will stick their necks out for Baylor.

Stanford and Cal will veto TCU because they're a religious institution.

Good for A&M on finally nutting up and making that move. A rivalry with Texas and the accompanying political pressure wasn't worth preserving in the place of a new, independent identity in a vastly superior conference. Not to mention LSU was a preexisting rivalry and Arky was a former SWC foe. Made the most sense of all the silly conference expansion moves.

Best thing A&M has ever done. Slam dunk across the board

TCU merely has historical church affiliation...Its governing is entirely secular. There are no religious "requirements" for students other than completing a one credit hour class that addresses faith in general. History of World Religions being the popular choice.

TCU = Duke in terms of being a "religious institution"
