Did anyone else see the Manchester United-Leeds game on FSC a minute ago? It was an instant classic from 2002 where Beckham had an 80 yard run and assisted on a pinpoint pass to Giggs.

Solksjaer, Scholes, Harte, Bowyer, Alan Smith, and Bowyer also had some great plays.

Be prepared to feel the wrath of "S"

ETA: In his prime Beckham was one hell of a player. Two time runner up to FIFA Player of the Year.

of course, i HAD to be on sportscenter at the time. ughh

i remember that game though, ian harte is one of the better left footed free kick specialists of all time, that was a typical alan smith game too. lee bowyer arguably played the best football of his career while he was on trial.

i hope they show this again soon, the other night they showed arsenal v leeds in 2003, all man utd and arsenal fans know how that one turned out

I can't figure out why Harte is playing in the second and third tiers of English soccer now at the age of 31.

he started to fall off during his final year two years at leeds, he was still only 26 but became a liability on defense, and didnt have the same influence on the attack he used to. guys on loan (tedy lucic, didier domi) were getting more games and he lost his place in the ireland ream to john o'shea but towards the end of the final season he came back in and actually scored a couple of goals, i guess the move to spain didnt quite work out, he was always overrated as a player because of set pieces, but damn if he hit it right it was a goal.

edit- dont forget his penalty miss against spain in the shootout at the 02 world cup in korea/japan. that may have played a big part in his slide.

at 5'6 and 145 lbs? I'm sorry, I have never said he was anything but a great player, but if you think Iniesta would "dominate" the EPL I think you are sadly mistaken. I just don't think he has the size. I think he would be a good player for any team in the EPL but I don't think he would dominate or be as effective as he is for Barcelona.

Andy Arshavin isn't much bigger and posted 6 goals and 7 assists in 14 games. Iniesta might not dominate, but size would not be a determining factor imo.

measurables arent really an issue for attacking minded midfielders. being diminutive doesnt stop you from having a killer shot and pin-point passing

Conor Casey is the futbol equivalent to Nickelback. Shitty, but still somehow get the benefit of selling records. Or in Casey's case...the privelage of actually representing our national team.

Bob Bradley is probably a Toby Keith fan too...

That mash-up is pretty epic. Clipse is amazing...and "Return of the Mack" is one of the great cheesey songs of all-time IMO
