i don't see how you could debate that the lakers aren't in the top 3 in talent.

I think if you look at each teams' top 5 players the Lakers have to be first or second. Boston is the only team that can realistically match up with

Kobe
Gasol
Artest
Odom
Bynum

That's pretty stacked. I thought their lack of shooters would hurt them in the playoffs, but size rules all apparently.

I don't understand how people can say Lebron doesn't have killer instinct.

He has not had the team to make it in the playoffs. Lebron has stayed clean, been a team player, and is clutch eventhough people try to create the myth he isn't.

Its so funny how Odom, Gasol, Artest, and Brown all became better coming to LA and playing with Kobe.

Odom was a borderline all-star in Miami before being traded & Gasol's numbers are pretty close to what they were in Memphis. And Artest? WTF - who is saying that he got better in LA?

Gasol this year has been consitent but for the first 2 years in LA he was very hit and miss and soft as a teddy bear

Wait. You're saying Gasol was soft last year?

HOLY shite!!!

18.9 ppg, 9.6rpb, on 56.7% shooting

Then, that very hit and miss and soft as a teddy bear player got to the playoffs and went for 18.3 ppg, 10.8rpg, on 58.2% shooting, and did a magnificant job stopping Dwight Howard in the finals.

That big, soft tedddy bear.

It's all about perception, what the media tells us to believe, and just a lot of blind hate.

No one is claming Lebron didn't lay an egg against Boston, but people are getting so ridiculous with some of there comments.

I'm more talking about the Gasol that got abused by Perkins, Powe, and Garnett in the 08 Finals. He didn't have the nickname Gasoft for nothing. Yeah he has gotten tougher and is better now but yall act like Gasol is comparable to what Kobe had in Shaq down low for those championships and he's not.

magnificent is stretching it a little bit, the Lakers as a whole did a good job on Howard through traps and double teams, not to mention even for his size Howard isnt the most physical low post player.. Gasol is still about as soft as they come just ask Denver last season and the Celtics the year before

Well, Kobe was terrible in that Finals too, but the Kobe guys forget about that, so you gotta give Gasol a pass too, or downgrade both of them for there performances.

He's not, but he's certainly a fringe top 10 player, and definitely a top 15-20 NBA player. Throw in Bynum, Gasol, and Artest's defense, and that is at worst the 2nd best top 5 in the NBA.

He called Gasol and big, soft teddy bear, and I'm the one who is stretching it?

Are you kidding me? LOL.

So, is Kobe soft for playing so terrible against Boston?? Are, we only pick and choose certain players and performances and forget about the others?

Kobe didn't play good against Boston, hell the whole team didn't. Boston was a team of destiny that year and nothing was gonna stop them from winning it all. The big 3 were brought together to win it all that year and they did. They played defense like nobody has since the 80s that year and they were the better team

So, that's a fair excuse for Kobe, but Lebron doesn't get that excuse this year and he just flat out choked?

This is sooooo bizarre.

Kobe was fighting through double teams majority of the game while Gasol simply had to play Garnett or Perkins who he had a noticeable size and skill advantage over.. understably Kobe still couldve played alot better but Gasol (supposedly one of the most skilled big men in the league) was completely none existent and got straight up punked.. there was no way Kobe was gonna bet that team by himself

So why is everyone dogging lebron for not beating the Celtics by himself?

This is getting downright ridiculous. ALL the same "excuses" we've been giving for Lebron and every Lebron hater is saying that's not a good enough excuse, we've now come full circle, and those same EXACT excuses are being given for Kobe's shortcomings.

Hilarious.

By the way, Gasol averaged 17.5PPG, 12.3 rebounds, 3.5 blocks on 63% shooting against Denver last year.

I'd REALLY like to know what you're talking about when you say he was soft. He straight up punked Denver last year.

This debate has morphed into a whos better Kobe or Lebron argument. IMO Kobe has a better career so far. Lebron has great talent and the story has yet to be written.

The original subject:

If LeBron was on the lakers....

I dont see the Lakers being any better with James than Kobe. It makes no sense to think they would be. IMO

Yeah cause Boston was the best team in 08 all year long. Best regular season record, home court advantage and everything. Who was the best team this year? Who did everybody pick to win the East and win it all? It damn sure wasn't the Celtics. I believe it was King James and the Cavs.

One major difference is in 08 the Lakers had to go to Boston and came home down 0-2. This year the Cavs were at home and left to go to Boston tied 1-1. Playing bad on the road and playing bad at home are 2 completely different things.

LOL. I love that emoticon.

Call me crazy, but Boston sure looks like a team o destiny this year too.

But, no way Lebron gets the same excuse!!!!!
