He was an a-hole that no one liked. He wouldn’t be seen as favorable today if he was still alive

What.? He was hated early on in his career, and later beloved as the “old man”. I was at Talledega in the mid 80s and he had very few fans.

What took his aggressiveness away was the fiery sports car crash he got in 2004 over in California. HE was never the same after that. He never made aggressive moves on the track (outside Talladega and Daytona). If his car was great he could get to the front but he never pushed his car more than it could go. Not saying he was afraid but he just seemed to lose something

Really an impossible question to answer. An active, successful DEI would have had a ripple effect.
