It would probably be a good idea to get him legit weapons on the outside before giving up on him. His best WR is a #3 WR on any good team. If you gave him the Chiefs weapons, peoples' opinions of him would be completely different.
That being said, he hasn't shown much promise of being consistent. But I think a lot of it stems back to the lack of weapons he has currenlty

On that 4th and 23 - it was only Vertically challenged Tarik Cohen who had a route taking him past the sticks. Allen Robinson, the Bears’ best chance of winning a contested ball, was running sideways to start the play.
Given how well Nagy was calling plays last year, it almost seems like Nagy is “tanking” the offense so that he has an excuse to get bring in a new QB.... because we all know Trubisky doesn’t have it at this point.
