I read once where Joe Namath was talking about playing for Coach Bryant. Bama was getting ready to play a team (don't remember which one) that was known for having a strong rush defense. With what corners and safeties were allowed to get away with plus the pounding quarterbacks had to take. I doubt it.

Just because modern teams don’t play that dirty now… doesn’t mean they couldn’t if they had to
