Does anyone have any research or empirical data to back up any claims?

Seems like they always rally with an old assistant coach and win the bowl game

Then the school hires the coach as the Head Coach for the next year and they go 0-12.

LSU is 0-2, but both times the coach stayed to coach the bowl game.
