Players play for coaches. Brand helps but nobody was flocking to Shula's Bama and not all recruits want to play for Saban.

Recruits do factor in personality.

I don't even understand what the article is trying to convey.

Starts out by explaining how important branding is, with a poll, which they don't explain at all.

Then they jump straight into hard recruiting data. That data doesn't support their brand claim.

Alabama had 7 straight #1 classes and still finished in their tier 1 this cycle. They're 18th in branding, though. The SEC usually has, what, 7-9 teams in the top 20 of recruiting? But only 5 of the top 20 brands. Again, the article contradicts itself, no?

ETA: Their downfall is probably the sample size. 224 isn't nearly enough.

They should have done it by star rating.
No. If you want that king od of poll, go to 247 or rivals.

This is a branding poll. Choosing recruits at random is most important.

If you choose all 5* recruits, you will see all the teams that are heavily recruiting them, skewing the results.

What point would that make about branding?

It would have been far more informative.
No. You just want Bama on top, Facts be damned
