Their season speaks for itself.

That being said, I'm impressed with Parkview Baptist's performance. Middle school pitcher quelling elite batters.

On another note, Vandebilt Catholic and Doyle are the best teams I've seen this year. Still have a lot of softball to come this weekend.

I saw Calvary Baptist twice last year. Not this year.

Yes. They stopped the game for 20 minutes.

So an umpire talked to a fan. Wow. The twenty minutes was to go deep into the rule book and get the call correct. Drying agents are allowed in softball.

If it was an un approved drying agent - the penalty is a warning, subsequent violations restrict coach to dug out.

If they let her continue to pitch with the substance it must have been approved. I am not a softball umpire - but I have never explained a ruling, call or answered a question from anyone other than a coach or player.

I was standing at the fence while the umpires explained what was going on to the Parkview head coach.

The Parkview pitcher picked the ball up to warm up at the start of the 3rd inning and it was covered in shite. Sticky shite. The kind that doesn’t come from a towel. She showed the second baseman, that brought the ball to Ashley Ducote (head coach) and she was alarmed. It wasn’t rosin. Or a towel. The girl had sticky shite on the ball.

They stopped the game to pull out the rule book. They said the towel she was using (gator towel) was legal, but what was the substance all over the ball? That ain’t coming from a towel. They never inspected her towel.

And they allow her to keep playing is mind blowing.

Congrats to Calvary, but this big bad UGA commit was out pitched by an 8th grader.

And she using sticky shite.

I’d suggest the coaches in the final keep a very close eye on her…. I’d want her inspected. Inside the belt, ON the towel, etc.

That ball didn’t get sticky by itself.

That can’t happen at state. No way no how.

I don’t believe that is a DQ offense. So now it’s some sticky shite and not stickum.’

If she continued to use the substance it must have been approved. If she didn’t then blue enforced it correctly.

It’s simply an illegal pitch if a non approved substance was used.

I agree.

There was almost a riot from Parkview fans.

Oddly enough, she brought a rosin bag to the mound the next inning for the first time and did for the rest of the game.

If the LSU All American head coach says there’s some fishy shite going on, I believe her. She was holding that ball and she knew exactly what was on it and so did every person in the stands. So did the umpires, who stopped the game…they didn’t know what to do.

I bet this girl has done this in every single game the entire season.

Warren Spier is one of my personal heroes.

I’m pulling hard for Doyle.

Specifically Kaicyn, Emily, and Raegan.

all they can do is what they did. Hence the rule/case book review.

I interviewed the coach and pitcher. Will have some quotes in the final rankings article.

Maybe so, but if that’s the case it’s ridiculous.

So cheat until you get caught, then there are zero repercussions. Mind blowing.

Every player should cheat I guess.

We played them last week. Just asked my daughter if there was anything fishy with the balls and she said no. That same pitcher had 2 rosin bags behind her all game.

Now there’s a good chance she just didn’t need that type of edge against us lol.

To say that’s frowned upon would be an understatement. Ask any ball player about using sticky shite when pitching. Baseball or softball.

People are now aware though.

Every game she pitches going forward, the opponents will be looking for it.
A lot of people saw this happen.

also the "sticky shite" could have come from the bats. I have seen it many times where pine tar or the synthetic stuff ended up on the ball and I had to discard balls as an umpire and yes the pitchers generally weren't gonna say anything but wiping a ball off on a towel would certainly transfer some.

Lol no. No sticky shite on any Parkview bats.

Not to mention Parkview had one hit when they caught her. Literally one bat hit the ball.

There’s the most logical explanation for what happened, but you just don’t want to believe it. That’s cool.

Tell your kid to ask one of the players.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck….

here's the thing plain and simple did it stop after it was discovered? If so that's all that can be done and coach restricted to dugout rest of game.

As much as plate umps handle balls - I find it hard to believe(albeit not impossible) it was that way for many pitches.

so softball batters don't put ANYTHING on their bats to improve grip?

Bottom line with what PBS is investing into softball currently they will be regulars at Sulphur and contenders for quite awhile. Provided Ashley stays.
