Name another 1B who brought as much to the table as Jeff Bagwell. He stole 30 bases twice and had over 200 career stole bases. He's the only 1B who's a member of the 30-30 club and he did it twice. He played good defense. In his prime, he hit over 40 HRs a year, was a .300 hitter and walked over 100 times a year. Oh and he put up all that in the fricking Astrodome which was a death knell to hitters. Give me another 1B who could do all that. Elite patience at the plate, outstanding baserunning, very good hitter for power and average, top-notch defense. The guy did everything well.
I like Jeff Bagwell. Dude was awesome in his prime. But he's not Lou Gherig, Albert Pujols, Stan Musial(is he considered a 1B or OF) good. And despite juicing his entire career and playing a lot games in that ban box known as Minute Maide Field, he still didn't ammass that career totals that a lot of 1B did. Not getting to 500 homeruns hurts his legacy, I think. Hell, Eddie Murray was probably never as dominant, but he had a better career than Bags. Frank Thomas was a better hitter as well(though he did DH a lot).

I never said he was as good as Gehrig, Pujols, Musial. I said he was a better ALL-AROUND player. Willie Mays and Barry Bonds and Honus Wagner were better all-around players than Ruth. But they weren't greater than Ruth.

How the F is anyone not saying Nolan Ryan?

Ryan's nine seasons with the Astros aren't anymore impressive than Oswalt's if you look at the stats. The biggest difference is in strikeouts and walks. Ryan had 9.1 K/9 and 3.9 BB/9 whereas Oswalt had 7.4 K/9 and 2.1 BB/9. The difference in their WHIP is .002. Oswalt's adjusted ERA is considerably better than Ryan, +135 for Oswalt and +110 for Ryan.
Nolan Ryan is a legend, but if you are talking about the greatest Astro of all time I don't see how Ryan deserves to be ahead of Oswalt.

Yeah, what is your point? The numbers are basically the same across the board except Ryan struck out considerably more people and Oswalt walked considerably less people.

Sorry read that wrong. The point is that Oswalt isn't near the pitcher that Ryan was.
Ryan is the clear answer to this question.
