?
They were set to play in the MNC before losing in a crazy 2OT Big 12 title game to A&M. Probably would've beaten Tennessee IMO.

That Kansas State team lost to a 7-4 Purdue team in the Alamo Bowl but at least it was led by Brees.

They were fun to watch But if they were great THEY WOULD HAVE MADE IT TO THE TITLE GAME.

Going from playing for the MNC to the Alamo Bowl is a pretty big letdown.

So this thread only applies to teams that managed to get in and lost in the title game with our shitty system?

Has anyone mentioned the Penn State team in i think 1994? I think Nebraska would've beaten them but they deserved a shot.

FWIW I haven't read the whole thread BUT 1969 LSU was a great team that was 3 points away from playing Texas in the Cotton Bowl for the NC.

No way an undefeated team that only lost in a bs postseason game that shouldn't even be there deserve to go to the Alamo Bowl instead of the MNC, the system is a joke.

Another candidate: 1996 Ohio State 11-1.

So Oklahoma deserved to be in the 2003 NC game after losing 36-7 in the big 12 title game????

losing 36-7

Big difference between that and losing in double overtime. Also USC was clearly a deserving candidate that year, whereas you couldn't really say that for FSU or UCLA in 98. Either way the system for picking the title game is totally subjective BS and conference title games shouldn't be there.

I think AU 04 is overrated in this category. I think USC would have beat them pretty easily

Jason Campbell + Ronnie Brown + Cadillac > Matt Leinart + Reggie Bush + Lendale White

just sayin'

2001 Oregon is a candidate, but 2007 is not. They were obviously a one man team, because when Dixon went down, they couldn't generate ANY type of offense A great team does not score ZERO points against UCLA, lose three straight, and depend totally on one player. Not even Jonathan Stewart could keep them in the title hunt which says a lot about the overall team.

I think LSU in 2006 was the BEST team in the country at the end of the year.

No doubt. No team beats us at the end of the season that year. We were unstoppable and that offense was fun as hell to watch. Refs at Auburn and the implosion at Florida..ugh.
