The college FB regular season would be unaffected by an 8 team playoff or even this guy's 16 team playoff. If we were letting 64 teams in, then you'd have a point.

Of course it would be affected. You think Boise has trouble scheduling games now, just wait for the playoffs. No BCS league team would schedule anyone OOC because they are only focused on winning their conference and having home tune-ups. There would be way more games against FCS teams.

And you guys need to take into account the way conferences name their champ. What if two Big10 teams go undefeated and don't play each other?

You're the one who says that a team can make their schedule better by saying that a team can put anyone on their schedule whenever they want. I said they can't and then you said that they aren't entitled to. That's the definition of changing an argument.

I'm sure a lot of teams would play Boise in a one game series with no return trip to Boise

Well, I'm sure Boise's fans would love to have 4 home games and 8 road games every year.

What's your point? I said they could never consistently get home-and-home series with top BCS teams. I never said they were entitled to such a thing.

It's conference or bust now, unless it's an odd year like OU 2003 or Nebraska 2001. LSU and Ole Miss were eliminated by the time they played, and that game still generated a shite ton of interest from both schools. If the playoff system this guy is proposing were in place, that game would have been absolutely huge.

By affecting the regular season, I'm referring to teams resting starters in rivalry games or at the end of the season when they already have things wrapped up. That just wouldn't happen in this scenario because of seeding. Besides, no one wants to play Boise now...just reference that little PR stunt they pulled 2-3 weeks ago trying to get a game for 2011. They still don't have a game after the play "anyone, anywhere" press release, so how could it get worse?

OOC scheduling isn't that big of a deal anyway. You'll still get all of the big conference games which are the most exciting games of the season.

too many games...
and Yes it is the PAC 10 and BIG 10 that are mainly keeping a play off system from happening.

FWIW...
I have always said that a 4 + 4 system would work...
Here is why I call it 4 + 4 instead of 8.

if you have an 8 teams system, there would always be bitching from # 9, as they "were only 1 place away"

I CALL IT 4+ 4
the teams 1 thru 4 and
the next 4 looking in "for good measure" as it were..if you are 5 places away from # 4, sorry.

I know, it is just perception, #9 is still number 9, but if you could not get closer to #4 than 5 places
...so be it.

And you'll be able to under this guy's system. Did you even read it?

Not according to this article and this LINK (they need an opponent for Sept 3, 2011).

I read zero of the article, but any playoff bracket that would include this year's LSU, let a fricking lone this year's 8-4 TROY, is absurd.
