Isn't that Hawaii you're talking about? Boise St. won a BCS bowl one year. I don't think the undefeated Hawaii from a few years back should have been in an 8 team playoff - just saying, some years there are undefeateds that COULD be great but go untested.

That's probably my biggest justification for a playoff. Less deserving teams, in the eyes of the voters, but deserving nonetheless. One year that team will get "skull-fricked" and another year that team will rout Bama in the Sugar Bowl.

Give me 8, 16, 20, team playoff who cares.

I certainly don't give a shite about the "most deserving" team argument. I watch sports for ENTERTAINMENT!!

A playoff would certainly be more entertaining than the current BCS format, even if less likely to determine the "best team"

Im tired of watching Kansas vs VT or Hawaii vs Georgia in meaningless games

Uhh, no you don't. Conference schedules are determined by the conference. OOC games require two parties to the contract - if BSU wants to open up against USC they can only do it if USC wants to do the same.

you will be hard-pressed to find many years with 4 teams with legit arguments for an entitlement to play for a title

Name one year other than 2004 when that is actually the case.

Boise could get a home-and-home with USC whenever they wanted!

65 teams out of a field of 347

vs

8 out of 120

That's 18% getting in vs. 6.7%.

Big difference IMO.

TCU has no problem scheduling good OOC games. BYU also

the WAC teams always claim they're left out. hell even then, Hawaii got a home and home with USC

BSU is scared of a hard OOC for 3-4 games

2004 is a year where you could have 4 teams with arguments (USC, OU, AU, Utah, BSU)

2005: 2 teams
2006: 2 teams
2007: 2 teams
2008: 3 teams

let's invite unworthy teams and if they frick up the system in games that aren't representative of the season, "oh well"

The NBA and NHL do this, as well as the NCAA Basketball Tournament. I'm not a fan of the NBA or NHL, but the NCAA tourney is the most popular sporting event in this country not named the Super Bowl. I'd prefer 8 teams or possibly 12 with "wild cards" like the NFL does, but this 16 team proposal kicks the shite out of the current system. Imagine a home playoff game in Tiger Stadium...that atmosphere would be unmatched in LSU's history.

Teams like Southern Miss, ULL, ULM, North Texas, Troy, Arkansas State, Central Michigan, New Mexico State, Idaho, Rice, Ohio, Toledo, etc., etc., etc., are not going to consistently get home-and-home series against the top BCS teams. You can point to your occasional home game that a non-BCS was able to negotiate but it isn't going to happen much.

And the NCAA basketball regular season is one of the most unpopular sporting events int the country.

The BCS' job is to put the top 2 teams in the Championship game. The only 2 years in the BCS' 11 year history where the top 2 teams were undisputed were 2002 and 2005. I can make an argument for at least 1 team outside of the top 2 in every other year.

The college FB regular season would be unaffected by an 8 team playoff or even this guy's 16 team playoff. If we were letting 64 teams in, then you'd have a point.

i could be wrong, but i'm PRETTY sure the BCS title game gets more viewers than the NCAA title game in BB
