Honestly LeBron gave that lady way too much clout. Most people would never know who she was if he didn’t respond. She got what she wanted out of it.

Surely you aren't serious. I've been knowing who she is for over a decade.

While I agree with you, this isn’t exclusive to James. Athletes, actors, and singers have more influence because they are generally more revered.

Jennifer Lawrence didn’t go to college either, but more people will listen to her versus Sean Hannity.

She’s nowhere near as famous as James though. The average Lebron follower sure as hell didn’t know her before this.

I understand that. But to say no one knows who she is is pretty ignorant. She's been in the news media for a long time and has had plenty of time on TV, radio and without even looking to verify I'd guess she has a book or 2 on the shelves.

Keep in mind the luminaries of the MSB don't venture too far from Ryen Russillo or perhaps John Oliver or Stephen Colbert when trying to hear commentary. These guys play above the rim. 24 on the ACT, Marketing degree from LSU, making waves in New Orleans, etc.

Yeah that was the origin of her “shut up and dribble” comment. It was a reference to her book called Shut Up and Sing

And this is a good thing? A celebrity obsessed culture is a tenet of Idiocracy. The same people on here who think Trump is a buffoon in part because he's a reality tv star are the same people who think people should inform themselves based on the views of celebrities, many of whom have zero formal education. If the Kardashians wanted to educate people on politics, what should our reaction be? That's how I view Lebron James trying to lecture me about politics.

Well you'd have to watch Fox News to know who she is. I don't watch Fox News therefore I didn't know who she is.

I don't watch network news in general. All you'd have to do is generally follow politics to know who she is.

Sadly, that's the reality. I'd love to argue and tell Monty he's full of shite. But he's not. More of American society would value the opinion of an uneducated actress than a Dartmouth educated political commentator. All you can do is teach yourself and your kids better and hope for the best at this point.

Laura Ingraham

Who?

A vapid hypocrite who wants celebrities to "shut up" and do whatever they do...unless of course you're a conservative D-lister like Antonio Sabato Jr. or Scott Baio...then by all means keep right on publicizing your opinion.

Shockingly she isn't telling Tom Brady to "shut up".

Considering she was a speech writer for Regan in the late 1980’s, she has been active in politics long before Fox News hit the airways.

Who said anything about consuming?

This is like not knowing who Bill O'Reilly is. She's pretty famous. Certainly Lebron James is more instantly recognizable, but most people would recognize her before they'd recognize most professional basketball players.

TBH I didn't even know who she was until this firestorm happened and I'm as conservative/libertarian as they come
