Well they've been to the series once so not really several
Sorry, let me clarify. They have done well in the playoffs several times in the last 4 years going to the Series in 2010, and the ALCS in 2011, and they have not been a successful franchise for a long time before that since the 70's.
The Giants have recently won the series, the Cards have won 2 series in the last 6 years, and the Yankees have won 2 in the last 12 years and have the most WS of any franchise period but they aren't going to win the AL pennant anyways.
So of all the teams left the Tigers are the underdog franchise considering recent success, and they have a good team with a greatly devoted fan base.

frick dude why are you always arguing? Detroit is a top 5 franchise that deserves respect. who gives a frick when they won... And I am very afraid to face them if the Cards make the WS
And I do treat them with respect and FWIW would much rather face the Yankees in the WS. However I have learned to not only take these things series to series but game to game so I haven't thought much about the WS as I just hope we get there

2006, 2011 right? I date back from this point. The last 6 years from NOW, not 2 in 5 years. They did win 2 in 5 years, but I wasn't wording it that way.
2006-2012=6 years. Cards won 2 in that span.

Can't really do that though until the season is complete, it's been 5 MLB seasons with 2 titles.
You can't say they won 2 in 6 years, when in a matter of weeks it could be 3 in 6 years.
Doesn't work like that.
But carry on.

I knew I would get this response.
Im speaking in real time. Literal years (365 days). Its been 5 years and 357 days to be exact....so I'm rounding up.

I will say I am very impressed by how we all, as Cardinal fans with different college alliegiences, get along so well (note to red this is how it's said without the ghey)

That still doesn't make it right.
Even in real time it's 5 MLB seasons.
You can't say so and so has 2 titles in 6 years, then 3 weeks later say they have 3 in 6 years. Doesn't make any sense.
Especially when baseball is the one sport in which it's seasons are in a single year.

I agree with this. As in most sports a "year" corresponds with a season and this season is not over yet

What do you mean? I never said seasons...my unit of time was "years" (365 days). In 6 years time, 2190 days (Thursday Oct. 25, 2012) the Cardinals on that date will have won 2 world series in the last 2190 days. I am not talking about seasons at all. Count back 2190 days and tell me in those days, how many times the Cardinals received the World Series trophy, and you should get 2.

Yes it can make sense if you specify what you mean by 6 years. Do you mean roughly 6 years or exactly 6 years (2190 days)?
So yeah both of those statements could be true if you mean roughly. Right now, at this exact moment, and before the next series starts, the Cards will be at 2 series in roughly that last 6 years of real time (2190 days). We are 8 days away from 6 years since their last World Series Title, and they won a series in 2011 of that same time frame. 2 in 6 years real time is a TRUE statement.
