You have to get really good at something with a name like Elvis.

If all of the players in the MLB were put into a draft pool, I'd take Joe Mauer if I had the first pick. McCann isn't a shite stain on Mauer's underwear. Barring a career ending injury, Mauer is a first ballot HOFer.

You just proved your stupidity. Catchers that can hit and play defense don't grow on trees.

Neither do players named Pujols

There are plenty of first basemen that can hit. Plus, it would not surprise me if Pujols is on the wrong side of 30.

Not that I am saying that Pujols isn't a monster, but Prince Fielder is having a fricking awesome year as a power hitting 1st basemen this year. No one is talking about him. But in any other season, he is having an MVP year.

I would give Pujols nod because he hits for average, power, walks, plays damn good defense, and can swipe bases when needed. Fielder is a great player but more in mold of Ryan Howard.
I would prefer the all around game of Pujols than those 2.

Oh I would take Pujols over Fielder in a second, I'm not debating that.
Fielder is a much better all-around player than Howard though.

Fielder is a better fielder and hitter over all. He is more nimble and agile than you would think given his size.
Imagine him coming from that fat little kid at the old MTV Rock and Jock softball games.

Braun and Fielder is the 2nd best 3-4 in the league. Better than Teixeira and A-Rod.
ETA: I forgot about Pujols and Holliday. But still it's close.

Braun and Fielder will be a damn good combination if Brewers can afford both of them.
ARod is having a down year this season, if he was having a better season then it would be very close between the 4 of them.
Pujols/Holliday I do not count as they have not been together very long yet. If Holliday continues to hit and they resign him then obviously Derosa, Pujols, Holliday, Ludwick, Ankiel, and Molina is a damn good lineup.

Thank you Yellow Cab. I am a huge Mauer fan but I dont think he has ever had more than 10 jacks in a year before this year. You would have to go with Pujols if you are picking a position player.

That's because he broke into the league when he was 21 or 22. He is finally developing power. It's really not surprising. Expect him to keep hitting for power.
If you would honestly choose a first basemen with the first pick then you have downs. What to do with a player when they can rake but can't field? Put them at first. That's why there are plenty of first basemen that can hit. It's the easiest position to play in the field. I'd go as far to pick Hanley Ramirez before Pujols. You undervalue up the middle defense on a baseball team.

Actually, the stat Mauer is best at, average, is one of the least important stats in baseball.
RBI = Runs scored. You score runs to win games.
Mauer can go 3 for 4 all day and drive in no one. He could hit .500 and help his team win zero games.
Holy moly.
No way you're being serious with this post.
NO WAY.
