Former BR Area Football HC Nolan Gill passed away yesterday.

He was 74 and had a long battle with Alzheimer's.
A long time assistant Coach at Glen Oaks and Tara HS before being named HC at Glen Oaks in 1987. After 12 years there, where he had some of the best HS teams in the State, he left to be HC at Denham Springs for four more seasons before retiring.
Gabe Northern and Marcus Randall played under him at GOHS.
RIP Coach.

some of denham springs worst seasons also. coach gill was a class act. great coach. dont know what happened those years at ds.

He was a great guy and a great coach, great run in Early 90s a couple of years yes twice playing thanksgiving or after, where I believe he lost to eventual state champs.

His best team was in around 1994-1995 but his best players got drunk/high before their first round game.
They were the 1 seed playing the worst.
On the 1st play of the 2Q, Glen Oaks went up 20-0. At that point all of those guys start feeling like shite and their play tanked. They lost 21-20.
He found out after the game was over.
At Denham, he didn't have the athletes to run the same system he had at Glen Oaks and it showed.
They were the 1 seed playing the worst.

Great guy and good golfer. He could putt from 20 yds off the green and make it. Will be missed.

IMO best teams were 91-92 lost to eventual state champs
1994 lost to a really good wossman team in qtrs
1995 LA didn't have seeding yet - that started in 99
below is week 10 top 10.
