Football players should be allowed to get credit for practice film review and any other hours should be teaching them about coaching and financial literacy needed in a professional career.

you may say “but not all of them make it!”

Sure, how many theatre kids become actual paid actors? Yet almost all schools offer theatre degrees.

what about creative writing? LSU has probably produced professional football players at a higher percentage than published authors.

And the fallback would be teaching them how to coach and get certified as PE teachers.

They shouldn’t be students, which they essentially aren’t. The pretense that they are should be removed altogether. Football is their job and be treated as such. I think they should be guaranteed a scholarship they can use post playing career so they can actually choose a degree that isn’t sports admin
