Football rule question about punting

So, if a receiving player of a punt JUST touches the ball it’s considered a fumble, why is it NOT a fumble when the same receiving team touches the ball immediately leaving the punters food (IE punt block)

not really. i think it has to cross the LOS to change its status

if the return team blocks the punt, if the punting team recovers they don't get to keep it there

Actually touching thre ball after it crosses the neutral zone is considered a muff.which cannot be advanced by K. A fumble only occurs after the ball has been possessed



Touching by R in the neutral zone or behind it is ignored and not relevant



k is the kicking team R is the receiving team
