Honestly I think this is a huge improvement on 2019
And Portis has been a really solid addition. He is perfectly keeping his aggression in line so far, which is always the thing you have to keep an eye on.
Cam Johnson has been the only guy playing poorly, and today was his worst game by far.
I thought he was a smart pick for the team but has just been awful.
Bridges has been perfect though for international basketball.

there's 3 guys on this team that are worthy of playing in a big tournament representing the US, and that's Edwards, Bridges and Haliburton. JJJ is alright as well, but there's a few other bigs i'd pick before him, although i don't have a problem with him being on the team. THe rest of them should never be on a team of the 12 best US players, even if the top 12 already aren't playing.
Lebron
Curry
Klay
Lillard
Durant
Kawhi
PG
Booker
Tatum
Brown
Butler
Bam
Lavine
Jrue
Mitchell
Murray
MPJ
Morant
Fox
AD Bitch
Zion
Kyrie
Anthony Edwards
Bridges
Haliburton
KAT (is a sissy, but he would be great in Euroball as a 5, and so would Myles Turner)
Van Vleet would probably be a good international player as well.
I get those top 7 guys are unlikely to play anymore. I'd include CP3 as well b/c he'd still dominate international play.
But there's still 15 other guys that are better than what they have out there right now, outside of Edwards/Bridges.
If you're not going to play hard nose defense (and when i say this, i don't mean Jrue/Draymond defense, i simply mean giving elite athletic effort like you see Edwards doing out there right now), then you better be super elite on offense, and when i say elite, i mean Zion elite, or Curry/Lillard elite. We win these tourney's easily b/c we are stacked with elite talent that we can keep throwing at teams. Zach Lavine isn't an all nba player, but he's so much more talented than any international player. Having him come off the bench against bench international players is extremely easy for him. There's a big difference between these international teams who are not deep at all having to deal with Austin Reaves off the bench, and someone like Zach Lavine or Donovan Mitchell or DaAron Fox. They kill teams b/c of their defense leading to transition buckets, b/c an elite USA team is impossible to stop in transition. Lavines defense was praised during his olympic gold medal run, something you'll never hear about him in the NBA regular season.
This current team doesn't play enough maximum effort defense. You see it from Bridges, Edwards, Haliburton, JJJ, Hart and Portis, but the rest of them play as if it's a regular season NBA game on defense. You're on a stacked team that can rotate guys in an out quickly. No one should ever be tired. If you can't give 100% on both ends of the court, then you shouldn't be on this team. And if a coach can't get them to buy into that, then he shouldn't be the coach either.

KAT is on the Dominican team since Caliapri got him to commit as a 16 year old, back when he coached them.
So JJJ is definitely one of the top options, despite his limitations. Especially if the Olympic team guys don’t want to play in this.

Old dudes and/or guys with injury history shouldn’t be playing international tournament.

I would agree for the most part, which is why i don't expect those top 8 guys to play since they are older and already put in their time with the USA team, but that still leaves almost 20 other guys that should be out there. THey can't all be hurt.

It’s because they want the Olympics and not this.
2010 and 2014 were fairly similar.
Of course if you look at the rosters now, they look better because some of the younger players blew up soon after.
Anthony Edwards and maybe Tyrese Halliburton and Banchero will be those guys this time.

It was crazy how bad he looked. It was a no pressure 35-40 pt game and he still looked shook.

2010 had 21 year old Derrick Rose, 21 year old Russell Westbrook, 21 year old Kevin Love, 21 year old Kevin Durant, and 22 year old Steph Curry. No one from the Redeem Team went to Turkey.
2014 had Curry and Harden has established players but also 21 year old AD, 22 year old Kyrie, and Klay Thompson before he was a big name.
This seems similar to those groups, though not quite as good.

Even the original Dream Team had Olajuwan and Patrick Ewing on it.
It was just Ewing on the original.

How Trae Young doesn't even get a sniff in this is beyond me. He's practically begging to play.

Minny is going to be a fun league pass team
