So Louisville can travel to Syracuse, NY but not host Kentucky?

Does ND get another Catholics v. Convicts game with The U this year?

It’s not about COVID. It’s about trimming the fat of the powderpuff games since you’re not going to make gate off of them. No sense in paying a powderpuff a few million dollars to play if you can’t recoup the money/make a profit from the gate.

By George, I think he's right.

so Florida can't play Florida State, but Florida State can play Notre Dame

It's not so much about the travel. It's more about the commissioner of each conference having the ability to pause the season or shuffle games if needed.

What good does it do for a conference to play just conference games? The teams are still traveling to different states and players will be playing against players. This doesn't stop the covid spread

One of the Big Ten coaches apparently explained it like this:

quote:

They're just trying to create flexibility if a team gets a bunch of cases and they can't play one week," said the source. "They want flexibility. Control and flexibility are key. Give yourself maybe two or three weeks of flexibility with 10 games over 13, 14 weeks. … that gives you flexibility to maneuver games around if a team can't play because they get too many cases.

Sounds like the ACC is backing off some on this, but at this point, this is probably inevitable.
